About Stacey

Stacey Cunningham was raised on a farm in southwest Idaho, and always had an interest in electronics. He pursued his passion by attending college at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho, and graduating with an associate’s degree in electronics.

Stacey’s first job out of college was as a maintenance technician working for a semiconductor manufacturer in Salt Lake City.  The industry was volatile, and the company conducted 3 layoffs in the 2 years he worked there.

While living in Salt Lake City, Stacey met and married his wife, LaNae.  In 1990, shortly after getting married, they moved to Boise, where Stacey took a new job with a local semiconductor manufacturer.  There, he held several positions including equipment maintenance technician and cost savings engineer.  In 2009, the economic recession caused by the subprime mortgage crisis forced Stacey’s employer to cease manufacturing at its Boise facility, and unfortunately, Stacey was laid-off.

Stacey began looking for a new job, but he was also investigating the possibility of starting his own small business.  That October, with the guidance of a family friend, Stacey launched Gasket Seal.  His business provides custom-made commercial refrigeration gaskets, along with other consumables, hardware and services to businesses such as restaurants and convenience stores.

Stacey and Jason Hunsperger had been former co-workers at the same company, and their paths crossed in 2010 at a business networking event.  After the event, they got re-acquainted over a few beers and became good friends.

Since 2010, Jason and Stacey have been meeting with several other friends at weekly get-togethers dubbed “The Board Meeting”.  Each week, the group discusses life and business while having dinner and drinking beer at various local pubs.

In September of 2019, Jason texted Stacey: “… ever thought about podcasting?”.  That text evolved into taking “The Board Meeting” concept and putting it to media, and the Life In Business Podcast is the result of that idea.  The podcast started as an experiment and continues because the hosts thoroughly enjoy the process of exchanging information and entertaining.

Stacey enjoys motorcycling (both dirt and sport bikes), woodworking, running his own business, and taking long walks on the beach.
